Process Server Creates Stronger Affidavits with ServeManager
When it comes to affidavits of service, Celeste Bowman, owner of Texas-based Bowman Pro Serve, believes there’s no such thing as too many details. As she was establishing her business in the Houston area, she began looking for a system that helped her easily create extremely detailed affidavits of service for her clients. Her search led her to ServeManager.
"With ServeManager, we can generate affidavits of service with a few quick entries. It allows us to log unlimited service attempts and each attempt can contain as much detail as necessary," Bowman said. “This enables us to assure our customers that we have done our due diligence.”
Bowman uses ServeManager to document as many details about her attempts as possible, including what the person was wearing, the time of day, a summary of the conversation, license plate numbers, which cars were parked in the driveway and much more. While some people might think that noting all these small details could be excessive, Bowman said it can solve many problems in the long run.
"It might be considered by some as too much, but hey - if I ever get called into court on a motion to quash, I’m ready. I find that many (unless it’s a non-biased party in a subpoena) will refuse to sign, so the more information I have included in my affidavit the better," she said.
Using ServeManager to improve the strength of her affidavits has already paid dividends by developing loyalty with her new clients. She said the most recent example of this was when she successfully served a deputy sheriff who had been avoiding service attempts from a different process service company.
"After our company served the deputy and returned the affidavit of service to the attorney/client’s office, we received a call from the attorney telling us how thrilled he was with the extensive detail in our affidavit. He said we would definitely be receiving more of his business," Bowman said.
