Process Service First Sign of Foreclosures
COLUMBUS, OH -- Jump Legal Group has filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of homeowners against Bank of America, alleging that the bank foreclosed on homes incorrectly, including foreclosing in some cases where homeowners did not miss a mortgage payment. In some cases, Jump Legal Group alleges, homeowners were not given advance notice of foreclosure proceedings until a process server showed up at their door.

Leigh Steinberg Denies Evading Process Service
SANTA ANA, CA -- A bench warrant has been issued for Leigh Steinberg, the sports agent who inspired the title character in the "Jerry Maguire" film. The warrant was authorized after Steinberg did not appear in court to answer to a case involving $1.4 million in debts. Last year, Steinberg was ordered to pay the debt to the Irvine Company as part of a default judgment against Steinberg. Steinberg claims he is not hiding and that he had been mistakenly told by an attorney that he did not need to attend the court date. The attorneys for Irvine Company claimed that process servers were not able to reach to Steinberg. Steinberg calls the claim ridiculous, as he regularly has speaking engagements and is active on Twitter and Facebook, making him easy to find. He says he only became aware of the case against him when he was informed of the default judgment, as he was not served properly.

Process Server Retires, Plans to Start Own Business
HUDSON, WI -- Steve Lewis has worked with the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department for two and a half decades and retires at the end of the year. During most of his time with the department, he worked as a process server. In his retirement, he plans to get into the barbecue equipment business. During his tenure as a process server with the department, he says that he has seen the types of papers served change. For example, over the past several years evictions have jumped from one a year to four a week.
