Judge Slams Poor Process Service Record Keeping
NEW YORK, NY -- A Long Island judge has deemed that a process server working for a foreclosure law firm did not keep records of papers in a foreclosure case dating back to 2008, thereby breaking the law. Process server Gary Cardi, who worked for A&J Process Service and Steven J. Baum PC, admitted in court that he did not possess any papers related to the 2008 service of process Soledad Murillo. Cardi admitted in court that he served thousands of legal documents over a period of six years and did not retain records about any of the cases. According to a judge, this means that Cardi brokeNew York General Business Law Article 8. That article outlines obligations for process servers and mandates that process servers keep legible records of service.

Customers Serve Wrong Company After Man Registers Copycat
ATLANTA, GA -- Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems (MERS) is a Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac company based in Delaware. The company accepts documents and service of process related to mortgages. However, MERS alleges that William Davidson incorporated his own company, with the same name, using his home address in Georgia. People served the MERS in Georgia, incorrectly assuming that they had properly served the official MERS. MERS is pursuing Davidson in court, alleging that he incorrectly incorporated his business and has been accepting served documents intended for the real MERS.

Police Detain Dez Bryant
MIAMI, FL -- Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant allegedly got into an altercation at a nightclub and was detained by Miami police. Bryant has been keeping a low profile since reports have emerged that he is expected to be served with legal papers related to a lawsuit by Endurance Capital Fund. The finance company alleges that Bryant owes them $50,000 and has been eluding their Texas process servers.

LOVELOCK, NV -- JP Morgan Chase has been trying to serve OJ Simpson with foreclosure papers, it has been reported by the press. OJ Simpson is allegedly facing foreclosure on his South Florida home, with JP Morgan alleging that Simpson owes more than $700,000 on the property. Process servers allegedly have been trying to serve Simpson daily at his address in Kendall but Simpson may be Nevada.
