About W.T. Butcher & Associates, LTD

A former FBI agent, Bill Butcher is an entrepreneur, having started up and sold several businesses since leaving the Bureau. He hung his shingle as a private investigator in Bismarck in December 1982 and his investigative agency has been the bedrock for all of his business ventures ever since.

From January 1991 to December 1994 Bill was president of AdMed, Ltd. and its subsidiaries, Butcher Testing Services, Ltd. and ChemReview, Ltd., all providers of a broad range of drug testing services nationwide. He has also owned, operated and ultimately sold court reporting, private security, and repossession businesses.

As a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bill was assigned in Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and North Dakota. He specialized in fraud, discrimination and crimes committed on Indian reservations, and handled liaison between the FBI and Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Saskatchewan. After his FBI days, he spent two years as an independent petroleum landman. As a young man, Bill spent nearly five years as an officer on active duty in the U.S. Navy Reserve, qualifying as an Officer of the Deck (OOD) aboard a destroyer, serving as the administrative officer at a high security Naval base and attaining the rank of Lieutenant.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and psychology from Albion College in Michigan, Bill then studied business in graduate school at Washington DC’s American University. In January 1991, he was designated a Certified Fraud Examiner by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He has been North Dakota state director and lobbyist for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) since January 1998.
