Suspect Process Service

November 21, 2011  |  by ServeNow Staff  |  In the News

BUFFALO, NY -- The Steven Baum firm is under fire for suspect process service in foreclosure cases. A recent article in Artvoice gives an interesting perspective on the firm, as the writer of the piece interviewed for the company years ago and was told that his job would involve filling out boilerplate documents and managing many foreclosure cases. The writer also spoke with an attorney whose client had been served by the Baum firm. The service of process involved a document that was simply dropped off in the lobby of a building, and was completed incorrectly. The names in the case were listed incorrectly and no 10-day notice of the legal action was given. When the attorney phoned the Baum firm, he was told that the firm had affidavits of service and was moving forward with the legal action, despite the concerns about process of service. The Baum firm is now closed after coming under fire for the way they did business.
