VAN NUYS, CA -- According to Federal Trade Commission, two debt collection companies used a number of illegal and abusive methods to target consumers. According to FTC complaints, the companies threatened to harm family pets and children. Rincon Debt Management has been accused of having employees impersonate process servers or attorneys. The FTC notes that complaints against debt collection companies have increased with the economic downturn. Attorneys for the debt collection companies deny the allegations.
